The human form is transient. The increasing globalisation of the fashion market makes it difficult to determine the body measurements and clothing sizes on which the clothing is based on. Mass production means that one item of clothing is tailored for many different bodies. We want our dress forms to reflect realistic, data-based proportions while reflecting a beauty that is inspiring.
There are two ways of measuring the body - analog and digital. The advantage of the analog measurement is that everyone can retrieve the data easily and free of charge. However, measuring large numbers can be time consuming and difficult for today's globalised fashion market. The advantage of digital measurement is that you can process data on your computer quickly and easily and that you can also measure many body parts in detail. However, since body scanners are very expensive and require a lot of know-how to operate, data is obtained from third parties. It is usually unclear who originally commissioned the measurements and whether the numbers have been manipulated. Therefore it is important to compare the digital numbers with your own analog numbers and to provide a balance that is desired by the consumers.
